Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I am training to participate in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride (100 miles around Lake Tahoe) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission.
I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!

My progress updates

  • 6/4: 100.06 miles, 9:38:17 total, 7:07:07 riding time, 14.1 MPH avg. Over 3,000 riders from all over the US. We had shark fins on our helmet, others had peach, toilet, tomato, wine glass, almond can and all kinds of weird stuff. It was challenging but definitely most fun ride ever!
  • 5/27: Last Buddy Ride before Tahoe. 55 miles.
  • 5/21: TNT ride #10 and send-off party. No more long ride, start tapering down to rest body. 2 more weeks to Tahoe!
  • 5/18: Bike to work day. 50 miles total including lunch time ride.
  • 5/13: TNT ride #9, Natural Birdge - San Gregorio 80 miles. Tough climbs in head wind early on but coming back highway 1 was great! Niec ocean view, tale wind. Fun, fun, fun!
  • 5/9: Interval training at Mt.Eden. Lots of hill climb = rubber legs.
  • 5/7: Missed buddy ride yesterday, so I did it by myself. Campbell -> Highway 9 -> Skyline blvd. -> Highway 84 -> Foothill expressway -> Mt. Eden -> Campbell. Only 62 miles but this was a toughest ride ever! I’m exhausted…
  • 4/29: TNT ride 8 Portola Valley – Woodside 72 miles. Nice weather, nice ride.
  • 4/22: Buddy ride 68 miles. I wore knee warmers on top of heat wrap, adjusted cleat position towards outside, did stretch at every break etc. Something worked and I had no more knee pain
  • 4/17: Chiropractor visit. Massage, stretch and ultrasonic treatment for my left knee. Did it help? I don’t feel any difference… Started doing stretch 2-3 times a day.
  • 4/15: TNT ride 7 Calaveras, same as last week. It was raining, cold, windy and my knee was hurting really bad. I'll try knee warmer and Advil next time.
  • 4/8: Buddy ride Calaveras. Two long climbs (5 & 8 miles) were challenging but it was a beautiful ride! So far this is my favorite ride.
  • 4/1: TNT Ride 6. I moved to faster team. We did 52 miles, kept average of 14 mph pace, much faster than previous rides. I fell off once (damn clipless pedals!), had a flat tire, my knee and back hurt really bad but other than that, it was a fun ride!
  • 3/25: 2 hrs of interval training. Almost had a heart attack in the middle of steep uphill.
  • 3/19: Rode from home ->Highway 9 -> Skyline blvd.->back to home. Never realized highway 9 was that steep and long.
  • 3/18: 45 miles. Road bike is so much easier to climb hills, WOW!
  • 3/11: Bought new road bike! (and bike short with padding, very important)
  • 3/4: My 1st training with team. Did 35 miles on my mountain bike.
  • 2/27: Came back from Eco Seagate in New Zealand and decided to join Team in Training
